Ground broken for Harley store

Menlove Construction Co. recently broke ground on the site of a new full-service Harley-Davidson store at 2385 North Main in Logan. The store will feature official Harley-Davidson motorcycles, accessories, parts and service, and motor clothes.

Saddleback Harley-Davidson is part of Intermountain Harley-Davidson Dealerships owned by Joe Timmons of Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Saddleback Mountains serve as a backdrop and inspiration for the name of the new 8,000 square foot store, which can be expanded to 15,000 square feet in the future, Timmons said.

“When people think about Harley-Davidson, they think about freedom and riding in wide-open spaces. We thought the Saddleback name had a nice Old West feel to it and fit our company,” Timmons said. “Logan has beautiful scenery, which makes it a great place to own and ride a Harley-Davidson. We felt that we had a great opportunity to capitalize on the market up there.”

Primary architect, James Glascock said, “The new building is an architect’s interpretation of a 1930s era motorcycle.”

It’s horizontally shaped, with a neon clock at the top representing a motorcycle headlight. Red neon takes on the shape of handlebars and the front forks of a motorcycle, and red and black accent areas replicate a front fender, which arches over the entrance to the building. Silver windows accentuate the building like chrome and fenders.

Eight thousand square feet of the facility will be devoted to the motorcycle retail store and two 3,500 square foot spaces will be available for lease. For more information contact Clark Brimhall at Intermountain Harley-Davidson, (801) 487-4647.

Day of Action to be held Monday

Twenty college campuses and organizations from all across the country will come together to protect what is left of wild public lands in Utah on Monday.

Over 50,000 activists will participate in America’s Redrock Wilderness National Day of Action, calling on congress to put a stop to rampant oil and gas exploration and rogue off-road vehicle use on pristine wild lands in Utah.

Specifically, students will be urging congressional members to co-sponsor America’s Redrock Wilderness Act, a bill in Congress that would permanently protect over nine million acres of Federal Bureau of Land Management land in Utah as

wilderness.

Joe Oleson, director of the Sierra Student Coalition’s national Wild Utah campaign said, “Time and time again, Utah’s fragile cryptobiotic soils, important threatened and endangered species habitat, watersheds and proposed wilderness lands take second place to destructive oil and gas exploration.”

“We want to show Congress that people all across America value the ecological, cultural and recreational values found within the nine million acres of wilderness quality lands within America’s Redrock Wilderness Act.”
