LETTER: Pride! Alliance can have space

Editor,

In response to the letters to the editor from the Oct. 16 Statesman, I would like to point out a couple of things.

First of all, in comparison to all other Utah State clubs, activities, events etc., how much space does the Pride! Alliance take up in one year? I see no favoritism there.

Secondly, try telling an African-American who had a news article written about his contribution during the civil rights movement he should not be given the space in the newspaper for simply “just existing.”

I will not apologize. The Polynesian Luau or the annual Star Search will hold ZERO bearing on our future, whereas the awareness created and promoted by the Pride! Alliance while striving for equal rights certainly does. I am not gay but I for one would like to promote equality and understanding.
