Oct. 11, 2002

USU fire marshals responded to a delayed report of a fire in The Hub. A stack of sandwich papers was placed too close to a burner and caught fire. The fire was put out by an extinguisher. No injuries or damage were reported.

Oct. 12, 2002

USU Police responded to the Spectrum on a medical assist for an individual who fell while getting onto the escalator. The individual was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital for further evaluation and care.

Oct. 14, 2002

USU Police responded to the Space Dynamics Lab to assist in getting a bird out of the lobby. The bird was removed and turned loose.

USU Police responded to the HPER building on a report of a broken window. The window appeared to have been broken by a 2 x 4 board found in the area. Police are investigating the incident.

USU Police responded to Mountain View Tower on a report of a broken window. A student accidentally ran into the window while playing Frisbee. The student was transported to Student Health Services for treatment of minor lacerations.

USU Police responded to a report of a person possibly attempting to steal a bicycle near the Business Building. The person is described as a white male, approximately six feet and two inches tall, wearing green pants, a black hooded jacket and white shoes. The suspect left the area prior to officers arriving.

Parking employees reported a sign had been stolen from the marching band practice area. The sign warned individuals the band practices from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and to move vehicles before that time. Police are investigating the incident.

The USU Bomb Squad was called to dispose of a World War II grenade that was turned into police. Family members of a veteran who had passed away turned in the grenade.

Oct. 16, 2002

USU Police responded to the Parking Information Booth on the report of a stray dog. The black lab was taken to Cache Meadows pending identification from the owner.

USU Police observed a lock that had been damaged in the Science and Technology Library. It is unknown how the lock was damaged or if unlawful entry to the room was achieved. The incident is under investigation.

Oct. 17, 2002

USU Police observed an individual running into the road at 700 N. 800 East, jumping up and down in front of a vehicle. When the individual saw police, he took off running across the HPER field. Police could not locate the individual.

USU Police took a report of an individual being harassed by another person. Police are investigating the incident.

A USU employee reported the unauthorized entering of a laboratory and the unauthorized use of a computer in the Eccles Jones Education building. Police have a suspect and are investigating the incident.
