Not agreeing with abortion is the point
Editor,
Wednesday’s column “Alito’s confirmation cause for concern among U.S. women” was a joke, right? I mean, the author didn’t seriously state “Whether you agree with abortion or not is not really the issue here” because that is exactly what the issue is about. The author focused on whether or not people agree with it or not for the entire article, changing focus only to state that we women are heading back in time to the caveman era and will be dragged by the hair by all men from now on.
The problem with the abortion argument is just that. It’s an argument. People don’t agree on it and will continue to argue on it until God comes down and condemns it Himself. The government is plauged by people unable to come together on the matter. They fight, they kill each other, they call each other names. It isn’t pretty and it isn’t something that the government can ignor and let us try and come to a conclusion ourselves. They have to intervene. They have to “play God” as you put it.
The real concern is Alito’s first action as a judge. He voted against allowing Missouri to execute death-row inmate Michael Taylor, a man who kidnapped, raped, and stabbed to death a 15 year old girl in Kansas. My concern as a woman, mother, citizen, and voter of the United States is for a man who doesn’t believe in harsh punishments for child rapists and murdurers.
