Our View: Resources should be utilized in the Hub

First off, we just want to thank the Resident Housing Association for stepping up and providing Utah State University students with the opportunity to watch the men’s basketball games played on the road at a central location on campus. We applaud any effort that unites students and promotes Aggie pride. And if we’ve heard correctly, there will even be free treats and soda available at the event.

Free food is always a good thing – especially when buying food has become so difficult. Every day in the Hub there are long lines and long waits. While we know that part of the problem is due to delays with credit cards being processed, and we know that this problem is under review and being corrected, we can’t help but wonder if the wait could be lessened by having more than one or two cash registers open at a time.

Each day, even during peak times, only one or two registers are open, despite the fact there are five available. To add insult to injury, patrons are now being subjected to advertisements on televisions hanging from the ceiling.

If lines are really long enough that monitors have to be installed to keep us entertained while we wait, then something is definitely wrong.

We encourage food services to revaluate the number of staff that operates during peak times in the Hub. A 10- 15- minute wait to pay for lunch isn’t just poor service, it should be correctable.
