The annual Monster Concert will be presented Tuesday and students can plan on it being a monster-size event.

The concert will be performed in the Kent Concert Hall of the Chase Fine Arts Center.

There will be two performances being held. The first performance will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the the second performance will follow at 8 p.m. The same program will be presented in each performance, however, different performers will be included, according to the press release.

“This is a venue for the students to get together to perform and have fun at the same time,” said Kelly Anderson, an award-winning pianist and Utah State graduate.

There will be 22 pianos assembled on the stage for the event, Anderson said.

This concert gives the young musicians a chance to interact with their peers in a shared experience.

Anderson said the music selected is appealing and for the most part not drawn from the classical world.

The theme for concert is “The World Tour” and it involves “monster napping” and an adventurous, around-the-world rescue mission, according to the press release.

The faculty and student instructors of the Youth Conservatory will be brought to the stage for a finale involving “Hoe-down” by Aaron Copland, from his work “Rodeo.”

Tickets will be available at the door. For students, admission will be free, with their current ID. Admission is $3 and family tickets will cost $10.
