By Katrina Cartwright Thursday, the Aggie men’s basketball team had its first appearance on ESPN this season and its first at home since the 1998-99 season.

The win over Long Beach State marked the team’s 10th out of the last 11 games broadcast on ESPN.

“The game was televised, so everyone was excited,” said forward Curtis Bobb. “I’m glad that we got noticed and sent the word out that we’re still a competitive team.”

The game was marked by an outstanding performance by Jeremy Vague, who had six rebounds and 12 points in 18 minutes of play time.

“[Vague] seemed to be in the right place at the right time,” said head coach Stew Morrill.

Tony Brown also played well defensively against Travis Reed, who was held to 14 points, and scored two 3-pointers to take his career total to 163, the fourth highest in USU history.

USU is the only team in the Big West Conference to have a winning record vs. all other BWC teams, and has a 22-game winning streak vs. Big West competition.

The Aggies went 16-0 last year and then won three games in the conference tournament, winning the league championship.

Thursday’s win was their third Big West win this season.
