TSC expansion is a waste of student money

Dear Editor,

I must respond to the letter by Adam Van Tassel complaining about non-students sitting in the student section of the Spectrum. I am of those “non-students.” I am actually a “non-traditional” student. I am 44 years old and must look like a grandfather to your incredibly narrow view. And yes, I have had my student status questioned more than once as I sat in the student section.

I am confused about your complaint of non-students taking seats away from student when most students don’t sit in their seats anyway. As a basketball fan, I don’t mind fans getting excited and standing up at crucial moments of the game, but someone has propagated the falsehood that standing the whole game shows true Aggie Spirit. I am sick of having to stand to watch the game while some yahoo in front of me stands and talks to his buddy about everything but basketball and never watches the game. Or the guy with his back to the court, cell phone to his ear, talking to a fellow cretin eight rows up about his physics professor who is so unfair.

If you want to come to the game for the social interaction stand in the concourse to discuss American Idol or Heath Ledger’s butt.

If you are truly an Aggie Basketball fan, then come and cheer them on. I love to sit around fans who understand the game and appreciate the effort of their fellow Aggie Students. But, please, if you don’t know the difference between a lay-up and a free throw take your inane pratting elsewhere.
