LETTER: Fieldhouse not up to par

To the editor:

I hope the Nelson Fieldhouse isn’t part of a tour to potential students or described as a wonderful facility. After using the Fieldhouse for most the semester I realize why most students I see using it choose to arrive in their gym attire. The condition of the changing room/shower/restroom (I can only speak for the men’s) is disgusting. I do not fully blame the staff, but rather those that are leaving those rooms in such a disgusting state. There is no need to leave towels all over the place when there are many bins provided to put them in when done. Trash bins are also provided for other trash, particularly paper towels. And toenail clipping being done in the changing room while leaving the clippings on the floor only adds a high level of vileness to an already disgusting situation. I won’t describe the more disgusting situations in the rest of the changing room and restroom area. But I do feel the staff can do a better job in maintaining a less stomach-turning environment. And as a side related question, is the broken equipment repaired annually, or never?
