After going 1-2 against Weber State University in Ogden two weekends ago, the Utah State baseball club will take on the Wildcats again this weekend at home in another tripleheader.

The squads will play Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Providence Field in Providence.

Head coach Ernie Rivers said Weber is a good team that has been around about 10 years and showcases excellent pitchers and hitters.

The Wildcats’ weakness is their defense, he said. According to Rivers, USU has a good chance of taking two of three from the team.

So far this season the Aggies are 4-5 against club teams and 4-11 overall. The additional six losses have come to junior college programs, which have players on scholarship.

Rivers said the team plays the games against the junior colleges for valuable experience against excellent competition. The season will be considered a success if the squad maintains a .500 record against club teams, he explained.

The three home games against Boise State, which were postponed last weekend because of rain, will be rescheduled for next weekend at the same times as the games this weekend.
