Hindustani artist coming Saturday A Hindustani concert of classical music, “One Artist, One Country, One Night,” will feature Santanu Banerjee who performed in the move “Ghandi.” The concert will be held in the Eccles Conference Center and will begin at 5:30 p.m. The concert is sponsored by the Indian Student Association. Admission is free and Indian snacks will be served.
Volunteers needed for Canyon Road The Logan Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteer service groups to help clean up Canyon Road from Center Street to 600 East. Project tasks include cleaning up litter, overgrowth, and dead limbs and depositing gathered debris at designated collection points. All non-green waste removal will be done by the Logan Parks and Recreation Department. Volunteer groups intrested in this clean-up project should call the Parks and Recreation Department at 716-9250.
Pre-school now taking applications Children who will be 4 years old by September 1, 2004 are eligible to sign up for the Bear River Head Start Preschool. The preschool is offered as a service of the Head Start program and is free of charge. Those interested should call 723-8734. Head Start also provides health and dental services, nutrition education, disability assistance and familly advocacy services.
USU choirs and winds combine Vocal jazz, selections from Poulenc’s “Gloria” and other choral pieces will be performed in a concert Monday, April 19th. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Kent Concert Hall. This performance will feature both the USU choral ensembles as well as the USU wind orchestra. Tickets are free for USU students, $5 for general admission and $3 for seniors.
Comedy brings laughs to Skyroom The Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity will sponsor a philanthropic Comedy Night, Tuesday April 20 at 8 p.m. in the TSC Skyroom. Tickets are $5 at the door. All proceeds will be donated to the March of Dimes. The Wise Guys Comedy Club of Salt Lake and Ogden are generously donating their time and jokes to this worthwhile cause. Come and shed some final laughs, good times and good laughs for a great cause.
Pi Kappa offers $500 scholarship As part of a commitment to the values of the Pi Kappa, the fraternity is offering a $500 scholarship to a Cache Valley high school who exemplifies the traits of being a scholar, leader, athlete and gentleman. The scholarship application includes a letter of recommendation, a completed form and a high school transcript due by June 1, 2004. Any male Cache Valley senior who will be attending USU is eligible. Applications will be made available to high school guidance offices.
Silver Medalist Ice Skater Coming The Cache Valley Ice Skating Club presents “Spring Fling on Ice” Saturday, April 24 at 6 p.m. The show will feature Erin Reed from Ogden, UT who has just returned from winning a silver medal in Italy. Tickets can be bought at the Eccles Ice Center for $10 for a family of six.
