OUR VIEW: Do Something this weekend

The last weeks of the semester are always the most difficult. But, the weather has been nice, the sun is out and so are most students. But, inevitably there are exams to prepare for and papers to write. Needless to say this weekend is much needed and jam packed with things to do.

Today is A-day, the grand finale to Aggie Week. With tunes from 94.5 VFX and plenty of activities, the day will be a sure energy boost needed to enjoy the weekend.

Logan is a pretty happening place when the weather heats up. Some of the things Logan has to offer are free of charge and still a lot of fun. Students can have a picnic, take a nap or just go visit First Dam. Another Logan favorite is going for a drive up the canyon. If you want to travel about 45 minutes you can visit Bear Lake, which is also a hot spot for many.

Saturday is Earth day and there will be activities going on at the Logan Fairgrounds, by the Logan Zoo. There will be a variety of activities, geared towards children, but still fun for college students.

“Footlight Frenzy” will be showing on Friday and Saturday, for those who need a break from the heat or want to catch the last showings for the Theater department.

Both Friday and Saturday night there will be parties or whatever your heart desires. There are always opportunities to go bowling, go to the movies or go to dinner – utilize Logan’s sources for leisure activity.

Saturday night is the big evening for activity.

In fact, two major events will be going on at the same time. First, there is Utah State University’s traditional Robins Awards. Following the event will be the Spring Formal. So if you’re in the mood to get dressed up and go dancing, this may be the option for you.

The other event will be the Old School concert, which will be one of the biggest concerts to come to Logan (in regard to the artists and how many records they’ve sold).

This will be an opportunity for students to attend a concert featuring some of the pioneers of rap music: Ton Loc, Young MC and PM Dawn. The four artists will all be hitting Logan on Saturday night to perform at the Glen Dee Spectrum. For once, students won’t have to travel to Salt Lake City to see a concert.

Who knows, maybe if the concert had good attendance, Logan could bring in more big label bands or performers.

If you like dancing, hit the parties. If you want to relax, enjoy Logan Canyon. If you have money, attend a big event. If you don’t have money enjoy Logan’s beauty and USU’s “free” events.
