OUR VIEW: Aggies should have pride

Each time Utah State University students look at the “A” on the top of the university’s most visible building, Old Main, they should feel a sense of pride.

USU is filled with tradition. Becoming a “True Aggie” has been duplicated by other Utah schools, but this is where it all began.

USU is rated as one of the best buys for the education in the country. USU is nationally ranked in research, has award-winning teachers, and offers the experience of a residential land-grant campus. The Quad, encompassed by Norway Maples and the university’s more historic buildings, is an unsurpassed green space that adds to the beauty of the campus.

As the state’s only land-grant university, USU supports the research and dissemination efforts of extension agents and specialists in every county.

The academic excellence isn’t the only thing for students to take pride in. The Aggie basketball team repeated as Big West Champions this season and won its first NCAA Tournament game in 31 years. No other team in the state had a better record or went as far.

Each student should walk a little taller this A-Day week knowing that he or she is an Aggie.
