USU athletes fail to advance at track championships
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Utah State’s final two competitors at the 2007 NCAA Track and Field Championships saw their seasons come to an end here Friday night as both Nick Karren and Amber Peterson were unable to advance to the finals in the 400-meter hurdles. Peterson, a senior from Midvale, Utah, ended her Aggie career on a positive note by setting a personal best for the second straight day in the 400-meter hurdles as she finished 13th with a time of 57.83. Peterson finished 16th in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles on Thursday with a PR of 58.33. Karren, a sophomore from Duchense, Utah, did not fair as well in the semifinals of the men’s 400-meter hurdles and finished in 16th-place with a time of 52.82. “Overall, I am proud of both Amber and Nick for what they accomplished this year,” said veteran USU head coach Gregg Gensel. “Amber improved on her personal best by a half second today and really ran a great race. Nick had a tough time today following up the good race he ran on Thursday, but I know he will continue to improve throughout his career.” Utah State ResultsWomen400 meter hurdles – 13.
