LETTER: Robins has had success

Editor,

After all the mudslinging and slanderous comments directed toward Tom Robins in this paper, I have yet to hear any mention of the success he had in the past election. Most of us would agree that Robins was least-likely to win the diversity VP office, but here’s a little figure all the flaming liberals can chew on: Tom Robins got 795 votes in the primaries. His only campaign effort was one article in The Statesman exposing the disgusting films certain USU organizations enjoy watching. With so much opposition against him, so little campaigning effort, and the fact that most people would agree he’s least-likely to win the office anyway, he still got 795 votes! Although he didn’t win the elections, his strength and influence has been shown.

Quite frankly, Robins is the most successful political activist on campus. His recognition in the Herald Journal and just about every issue of The Statesman proves his influence. He has run circles around USU leftists. He has been the example to all activists. His energy is contagious, his courage is admirable, and his efforts get results. There is no leftist on campus that compares in the slightest to Tom Robins.

I don’t think anybody minds when bitter lefties slam into Robins, but The Statesman has published tons of anti-Robins sentiment. I’d just like to take this opportunity to rub into the face of all anti-Robins the success Tom is enjoying.
