Taubi Neves Named Assistant Volleyball Coach

Utah State’s head women’s volleyball coach Grayson DuBose announced Wednesday the hiring of Taubi Neves (pronounced Tau-bee Kneevs) as an assistant coach for the Aggies. Neves replaces Sahara Castillo who resigned following the 2006 season.

“I am thrilled to be returning to Cache Valley and Utah State University,” said Neves. “Having the chance to be associated with the Utah State’s women’s volleyball team again and work with Grayson and Shawn (Olmstead) was something I just couldn’t pass up.”

A native of Otto, Wyo., Neves played for two seasons on Utah State’s volleyball team and set a new single-season digs record as a senior in 2003 with 362 digs. Neves began her collegiate career at Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyo., where she earned all-region and all-conference honors as a freshman and sophomore.

“I am excited that Taubi has decided to join our staff,” DuBose said. “She is not only an alumni of Utah State, but of the volleyball program as well. She brings with her great skill and work ethic and is familiar with our statistical program, which will allow her to hit the ground running thisfall.”

Neves graduated from Utah State in 2004 with a degree in physical education/pre-physical therapy and is currently working on a master’s degree in exercise science. Following her ollegiate career, Neves served an 18-month LDS Church Mission in Chile.
