Lacrosse beaten by Utes, Cougars

The Utah State men’s lacrosse team lost to the University of Utah Friday night in Salt Lake City, 15-7, and to the Brigham Young University B-team in Provo Saturday. After the Aggies scored three quick goals to start the game, the Utes answered back with three of their own and then went on to take the lead for good. Midfielder Dave Chambers said the reason for the loss was the lack of open looks. “Their defense really stepped up and made it difficult to get in any seams and get good looks at the goal,” he said. After five unanswered goals from the Utes, the Aggies turned it up defensively in the third period, holding the Utes to one goal. The Utes, however, continued to tally up the points and it wasn’t until late in the fourth period the Aggies retaliated with two goals of their own. The goals came a little late and the game was already out of reach for USU to spark any real comeback. Saturday, the team fell behind 8-0 to the Cougars and was unable to close the gap.
