Police Blotter: news from the campus and community

March 12

* Police responded to the USU Trailer Court on a report of a suspicious vehicle. Police made contact with a man sitting in his car working on his laptop computer. He turned out to be a guest of one of the Trailer Court residents.

* University police responded to the fountain area outside the Taggart Student Center on a report of a group of teenagers skateboarding. The group left the campus when police arrived.

* A student made a delayed report of being assaulted by an acquaintance in the Mountain View Tower parking lot.

* University police responded to the USU Trailer Court on a report of a Golden Retriever that had been standing in the open field on the north side of the court for several hours in the afternoon. When police arrived, the dog would not allow anyone to get close to it. Logan Animal Control was contacted.

March 15

* University police received a property damage report from the parking office. The B-Premium parking gate was bent backwards and broken. The gate has been replaced. Police are investigating the matter.

* University police responded to the Ag Science Technology and Education department on a property damage report. The back window of a vehicle parking in the parking lot was shattered. Police are investigating.

* University police responded to Valley View Tower on the report that a resident was displaying lewd materials. Contact was made with the resident who was warned that further activity could result in criminal charges.

March 16

* University police responded to the Merrill Library on a report of a power outage and people stuck in the elevator. Shortly after police arrived, the power came back on and the elevator began to work property.

* University police responded to Snow Hall on a delayed report of a fire. Some wiring in the oven shorted out causing a small fire that extinguished itself when the stove was unplugged.

March 17

* University police responded to the TSC Patio on the report of an individual riding a motorcycle on the sidewalk. Police were unable to locate the motorcycle anywhere on campus.

* Police responded to the sidewalk of Old Main on a report of an individual drinking an alcoholic drink. Police arrived in the area and could not locate anyone with an alcoholic drink.

* An individual reported a telephone offense where he received harassing text messages on his cell phone. Police are investigating.

* An individual reported to police that someone stole her laptop computer. Police are investigating.

March 18

* Police responded to a report of graffiti on the fifth level of the Parking Terrace. Spray painted in black is the word “think.” Police are investigating.

* Police received a report of seven A-frame signs used for the ASUSU elections that were stolen from campus.

* University police responded on a report of an individual trespassing at Romney Stadium. Upon further investigation, the suspect was cited for trespassing and for an open container in a vehicle.

* Police observed a small fire burning in the east parking lot of the Student Living Center. Someone had lit a pile of doormats and newspaper on fire and left it to burn. Police were able to extinguish the fire and are investigating the incident.
