Utah State Has 60 Student-Athletes Receive Academic All-WAC Honors

The Western Athletic Conference announced its spring all-academic teams on Tuesday and Utah State had 60 student-athletes recognized as 39 earned all-academic team honors, while 21 more were named to the academic all-freshmen/transfer team.

To be eligible for the spring academic team, a student-athlete must have completed one academic year, have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.

Leading the way for Utah State is senior Lauren Monson (women’s tennis) and junior Amy Egan (women’s track and field), who both earned academic all-conference honors for the third straight year. Monson graduated from USU this spring with a degree in exercise science and a cumulative grade-point average of 3.34, while Egan is majoring in English and has a 3.75 cumulative GPA.

During the 2006-07 academic year, 115 Utah State student-athletes were recognized by the league office for their academic achievements.
