St. Mary’s outpaces Aggie basketball team
Playing in front of a packed house, the Utah State men’s basketball team fell short in its comeback attempt, suffering a 67-58 defeat to St. Mary’s College Thursday at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Senior Matthew Dellavedova scored 21 points and had three assists to lead the Gaels, who finished 16-of-23 from the free throw line after starting 2-for-9.
Junior Jarred Shaw had a team-high 17 points to lead the Aggies and junior Kyisean Reed added 16, but the Aggies were unable to keep pace with the hot-shooting Gaels.
Utah State fell to 1-1 on the season, while St. Mary’s improved to 2-0. The Aggies will look to rebound against the University of Texas-Corpus Christi on Saturday at 7 p.m.
