Colorado State baseball finishes strong

A day after the Aggies rallied from five runs down in the ninth inning, it’s the Rams’ turn to finish off the game in a strong fashion as CSU beat Utah State 9-4 in 10 innings.

A tight contest quickly turned into a blowout when the bats for the Colorado State Rams awakened to have a big inning in the top of the 10th.

The Rams scored five runs, all with no outs, and kept the Aggies from repeating last night’s heroics.

CSU jumped out to an early two-run lead in the top of the first inning, but the Aggies rallied for three runs in the bottom half to take the lead.

The Aggies got a solid performance from starting pitcher Robert Garrett, who went six innings and allowed four runs. His relief, Tyler Berry, went three innings and didn’t allow any runs.

“I struggled my last outing,” said Berry, who had to come off the field in the 10th due to back stiffness. “I just wanted to come out and throw strikes and get outs, and I did that.”

Garrett Wallace and Justin Petersen led the way in batting for the Aggies, going 1 for 5 and 1 for 4, respectively, each with one RBI.
