Police Blotter: news from the campus and community

Feb. 20

* Police responded to the parking lot west of Snow Hall on the report of an animal problem. It was discovered that a student had parked his truck in the parking lot with a dog loose in the back. The dog did not have tags. The owner was located in Snow Hall and warned.

* Campus police responded on a report of a stolen parking meter. The meter was taken from 775 N. 800 East. Police are investigating.

* Campus police responded to Mountain View Tower on a report of found stolen property. Police conducted an investigation and an individual was arrested for theft of a street sign.

* An individual reported the theft of their credit card and some cash from the Fieldhouse. The card was also used to make several purchases. Police are investigating.

Feb. 21

* An individual reported that his wallet was stolen in the library. Police are investigating.

* Campus police responded to Mountain View Tower at the request of an RA that suspected alcohol use in one of the dorm rooms. When police arrived there was no odor of alcohol present. Police spoke with the resident of the suspect dorm room. It was discovered the individual had not been drinking.

Feb. 22

* Campus police were called to The Hub in the Taggart Student Center for a report of a broken window. A window south of the Hub was broken during the Mardi Gras celebration. The investigation is continuing.

* Campus police responded to a noise problem at Aggie Village. A resident’s alarm clock had been going off for approximately one hour. The alarm clock was located and shut off.

* Campus police responded by phone to a theft report at the Chase Fine Arts Center. A bass drum was reported missing. A short time later, the drum was found in another part of the building. The drum had been used for a rehearsal in the Morgan Theatre and had not been returned.

Feb. 23

* During the USU/Fullerton basketball game, a student reported being struck on the corner of the eye by a piece of candy that was thrown from the crowd.

Feb. 25

* Campus police met with the Housing Facilities personnel about two stray cats. Police impounded the cats.

Feb. 26

* Campus police responded to Valley View Tower on a report of an alcohol offense. Police are investigating the matter.

* Campus police responded to Mountain View Tower on a report of people stuck in the elevator. The people were able to get out of the elevator prior to the police arriving at the location. Facilities personnel were notified and responded to check the problem.
