Utah Food Bank needs donations

‘Tis the season to be jolly … and stop being so greedy!

As this year’s holiday season approaches, each poor college student can donate something to someone who doesn’t have anything at all.

The opportunity to give is available to all Utah State University students. It is as simple as dropping off a can of food at certain businesses in Logan.

Currently, students can drop non-perishable food off at Smith’s Food and Drug Center, Jiffy-Lube, Jamba Juice (frozen turkeys only), Lee’s Marketplace and the Cache Community Pantry.

Nearly 73,000 Utahns rely on emergency food assistance from the Utah Food Bank and the State Hunger Network each month, according to www.ksl.com.

All it takes is a few dollars and 10 minutes out of a single day to donate a few cans of food.

The Utah Food Bank has determined that during this holiday season, they need to collect 1.5 million pounds of food to meet the statewide need. That translates into 38 semi-truckloads of food.

USU students can be a part of this monumental effort. So don’t go out to lunch tomorrow and use that money to help save a life.
