BLOTTER: Police news from the campus and community

Jan. 13, 2003 Logan Police received a report of something on a bench that was on fire in front of Smith’s.

A caller reported to Logan Police that a large pickup pulled into the parking area of the storage sheds and was acting strangely.

Jan. 10, 2003 USU Police found a box of beer abandoned on the north side of Bullen Hall. The beer was confiscated, and police are looking for the owners.

Jan. 11, 2003 USU Police assisted Logan City Police on a noise problem coming from a fraternity house. The president of the fraternity was cited for having a disorderly house. Nonresidents were asked to leave. There were no other problems.

USU Police responded to the Stadium east parking lot to check on two subjects yelling at each other. The subjects were gone when the officer arrived.

Jan. 12, 2003 An individual called USU Police to report that someone has been hacking into his computer. Police are investigating. USU Police stopped a vehicle wanted by North Logan Police for a possible assault and a suicide attempt.

Jan. 13, 2003 USU Police responded to a report of a professor who passed out in class. The individual was evaluated by medical personnel and released.

Jan. 14, 2003 USU Police received a report of harassment from a resident of Richards Hall. Two male individuals were taping pornographic photos to the victim’s window and knocking on the window, waking the victim up in the early morning hours. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to an alarm in the heating room of the Water Lab. The alarm was set off by high levels of carbon monoxide. The carbon monoxide levels returned to normal and the alarm reset itself.

USU Police responded to the Veterinary Science Building on report of a suspicious liquid spill. The liquid was determined to be fruit punch.
