BLOTTER: Police news from the campus and community

Jan. 4, 2003 USU Police arrested an individual for driving under the influence of alcohol. The individual was observed driving with the headlights turned off. Police booked the individual in the Cache County Jail.

An individual called USU Police to report a burglary that happened on New Year’s Eve. Investigation is continuing. Police received a report of damage to a resident’s room in Richards Hall. The damage includes five broken doors and a broken table. The incident is under investigation.

Jan. 6, 2003 Police are investigating a theft of a green GAP shoulder bag. The bag contained two political science books, one statistics book and some prescription drugs. The bag was stolen from the racks in front of the USU Bookstore.

The USU Police bomb technician was called to assist the Cache County Sheriff’s Office. Information was received that a juvenile had been making explosives. The suspect’s house was searched, but no explosives were found.

Jan. 7, 2003 Logan Police received a report of several cars in front of a residence. The complainant reported juveniles wearing dark masks, holding some sort of gun.

A woman reported to Logan Police that a man in a gray jogging outfit with a hood mooned her.

Jan. 8, 2003 USU Police responded to the area around the Student Living Center to check for some people who were smoking in the shrubs. The officer found no one in the area.

Jan. 9, 2003 USU Police responded to the Engineering Building on a report of a disorderly individual. When police arrived, the individual left the area. USU Police responded to the Taggart Student Center on a report of an open door. Police checked the area and found no problems.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious person trying to gain access to the Engineering Laboratory Building. The individual did not have a key but had a friend inside who did. Police told the individual she was not welcome after hours.

Jan. 10, 2003 Logan Police received a report of a woman’s hair being caught in a machine and yanked out.

Jan. 11, 2003 A Paradise resident reported to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office that a Jeep Cherokee was driving recklessly, trying to jump a hill near her residence.
