Thanks to HASS Senator Horsley

Dear Editor,

I’m writing in response to the service I received from the student elected HASS Senator Felicia Horsley.

Students are often quick to criticize our student elected leaders for the policies and procedures they implement. We are often told that the student leaders forget who we are after they are elected. However, I had a minor problem that was by no means earth shattering and Senator Horsley took time from her personal schedule to help one of many HASS constituents.

I am currently an intern in Washington D.C. and although I’m technically still a student I live thousands of miles away from USU. This makes it somewhat difficult for me to participate in student activities and affairs; including HASS week.

HASS week encompassed many activities including the musical stylings of Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band. This is my mother’s favorite band and she sports their apparel on her days off. A month ago she completely ruined her favorite Ryan Shupe shirt with bleach.

When I received the mass email alerting HASS students to the HASS week events I emailed Senator Horsley to ask her if she could pick up a new shirt for my mom.

Senator Horsley took it upon herself to pick out, purchase and ship the shirt to my mother. I didn’t have to email or call her seventy five times; she remembered what one student had requested out of thousands and took time out of her busy schedule to help me.

I appreciate all the hard work our student government does for us. I may not agree with some of their decisions but the time and effort they give to the students of USU should be applauded. I thank Senator Horsley for remembering that every student at USU counts and it’s the small things that make a difference in student’s lives.
