Utah State Signs Junior College Point Guard

Utah State’s head men’s basketball coach Stew Morrillannounced Tuesday the signing of Kris Clark to a national letter of intentto compete for the Aggies beginning in the 2006-07 season. The 6-1,180-pound guard just completed his sophomore season at Vincennes Universityin Vincennes, Ind., and will have two years of eligibility with Utah State.

As a sophomore at Vincennes University, Clark helped lead theTrailblazers to a 26-6 record and the Region 12 championship as he played in32 games and averaged 9.1 points, 5.9 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game,while shooting 39.2 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from three-pointrange. During his sophomore season, Clark scored a season-high 25 pointsagainst Olney Central College and had a season-high 14 assists against GulfCoast College.

“Kris Clark is a solid addition to our basketball program,” saidMorrill. “He has natural point guard instincts and has good size andathletic ability. We are excited about the potential Kris has and thecontributions he should deliver to the Aggies.”

Clark transferred to Vincennes University after playing his freshmanseason at the University of New Orleans where appeared in two games duringthe 2004-05 season.

“Kris was a pleasant surprise for us this year and is a very good pointguard,” said Vincennes University head coach Everick Sullivan. “I thinkKris will fit in well at Utah State because he has the ability to play attwo different speeds and does a good job of controlling the tempo of thegame. He has the ability to make players around him better and can scorethe ball if necessary.”

Clark prepped at New Hanover High School in Wilmington, N.C., where hewas named a two-time all-district and all-state selection.
