LETTER: New dining hall not up to par
To the Editor:
I just had my first dining experience in the fancy new facility in the TSC. With the operation only running a few days, it was far from a well-oiled machine.
The salad and soup bars were empty (for a long period) and all other options had very long lines. I suppose this sort of thing is to be expected, but was surprised that the manager of the operation is out of town this week. Just try complaining-they’ll point you to the guy cooking fries.
Of more concern to me is the new “all you can eat” system. The cost is very high, and will no doubt encourage poor eating habits that young students are already prone to. You can choose water instead of coke, but you paid for the coke. Just want a salad? $6.40. You could go downstairs and get a prefab pizza if you don’t like it. Moreover, one cannot dine with anyone else who won’t pay $6.40 for lunch. Entrance requires payment. This has killed the lunch group that I have enjoyed since my arrival here.
I would hope that the dining services management would reconsider their decision. Just because you have a monopoly doesn’t mean you are free to do your job poorly.
We’re all counting on you.
