Julie Clayton-Spencer Nelson

Spencer Howells Nelson and Julie Clayton were sealed Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Jeffrey N. and Marjorie M. Clayton of Bountiful, Utah. The groom is the son of Jim and Michele Nelson of Pocatello, Idaho.

A reception for the couple was held that evening, Aug. 17, 2006, at the Lion House in Salt Lake City. An open house honored the couple Friday evening, Aug. 18, 2006, at the home of the groom’s parents.

Julie is the youngest of six children and grew up in Bountiful, Utah. She lived in Kansas City, Mo., where her father served as a mission president for the LDS Church for three years. She is a graduate of Raytown High School in Missouri where she served as captain of her drill team, member of the student council and editor of the school newspaper. She is also a graduate of LDS Seminary, Independence, Mo. She is currently a student at Utah State University with plans to graduate in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in art history.

Spencer graduated from Pocatello High School and Pocatello LDS Seminary in 1998. He was active in basketball and tennis. He graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2004 and played basketball for the Aggies. He served a two-year mission for the LDS Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 2005-2006 he played professional basketball for GHP Bamberg, Bamberg, Germany. Following their wedding, the couple will make their home in Treviso, Italy, where Spencer will play basketball for Benetton Treviso.
