Loyola Marymount bests USU women’s basketball team

The Utah State women’s basketball team continued its road trip on Saturday afternoon when they took on Loyola Marymount. The Aggies lost to the Lions 98-81.  

USU began the season on a three-game losing streak while LMU is now .500 at 2-2. Senior Devyn Christensen led the Aggies, finishing with 31 points. The Lions were led in scoring by Alex Cowling with 24 points.  

The Aggies came out slow to start the first half and trailed before taking a 20-18 lead with 11 minutes remaining. The lead only last for a minute before the Lions regained it.

The Lions opened up the second half on a 21-8 run to push their lead to 21 points with 14 minutes remaining in the game.

The Aggies trimmed the lead to 77-67 with six minutes left with 15 points from Christensen, but that’s as close as USU would get as LMU pulled away for the victory.

USU’s next game will be in The Great Alaska Shootout on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The Aggies will take on Prairie View A&M.
