Stampede for the Ags with the Hurd
Although their impassioned rooting has yet to be rewarded by any USU football success, ASUSU Athletics President Cory Mikkelson says members of the HURD will be at Romney Stadium two and a half hours before kickoff to tailgate and support the Aggies as they look for their first win of the year against Idaho.
Although four games have been played, USU still has an entire WAC schedule to play and Mikkelson says it’s far from too late to sign up with the HURD.
“It’s not too late for a couple of reasons: number one, football season is far from over; number two, we’re going different things during basketball season and all the way out through the rest of the year,” Mikkelson said.
The HURD members at Saturday’s game will eat free food and stand a chance of winning one of three $1,000 scholarships the WAC-affiliated GMAC Bowl is giving away.
Mikkelson said the easiest way for students to get involved with the HURD is to visit the Student Involvement Office in TSC 326. Membership costs $20, but that small investment more than pays for itself with a myriad of benefits HURD members enjoy.
“You pay $20 and with that membership you get a shirt, a discount card to local businesses, which is good all the way through next June, free food at coach’s shows, free food at tailgate parties, free food at basketball activities and weekly e-mails about all the activities going on campus,” Mikkelson said.
HURD already has plans for Homecoming, which Mikkelson said will be “huge.” AAA insurance will be at the tailgate party with their thrilling NASCAR simulator, which will be free to the public. Mikkelson also said there will be plenty of giveaways, and of course, plenty of free food for HURD members.
