Registrars

In an effort to increase the convenience of services offered to students, the Registrar’s Office is expanding its facility.

Registrar John Mortensen said right now there are two different locations at which students can register. For on-campus classes, students visit the Registrar’s Office in the Taggart Student Center. Students conducting business with regional campuses have to go to the Eccles Conference Center. Once construction is complete, he said there will be one office to meet everyone’s needs.

He said four members of the regional campus staff will move to the TSC.

“Mainly, we are trying to make it so that students can go to one place to register,” Mortensen said.

Mortensen said they are also trying to better utilize space. He said they are moving the counters to where the doors and windows are now so students won’t even have to walk into the office, they will just approach one of the five windows.

“The bottom line,” Mortensen said, “is that the construction is to make it more convenient for students to do any business with registration.”

At this point, Mortensen said construction is projected to be completed the third week of April.

He said these changes will also help in having a clear distinction between the Registrar’s Office and the Cashier’s Office.

“I think just overall, this will bring less confusion,” Mortensen said.

So far, he said the construction has not really disrupted the office or its productivity.

“This has hardly affected us at all, other than it’s noisy,” he said.

Mortensen said there should be no cause for concern in regards to the speed or efficiency with which the office serves students. He said they are working and will continue work as usual.

“We have no intention of stopping any services we provide,” he said.
