LETTER: GOP cuts hurt students

To the editor:

The House Republican continuing resolution proposes cutting Pell Grants from $5,550 to $4,705, a reduction of more than 15 percent. Combined with the increasing cost of college, this decrease in federal financial aid will affect many USU students.  Thanks goodness USU faculty and students can look forward to eventually taking advantage of the $5 million estate tax exemption.

Thank senator-for-life Hatch for supporting continuation of the Bush II tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Please continue to vote a straight Republican ticket.
