Study before you vote
Editor,Everyone knows that both sides of the Presidential debate exaggerate the facts. Responsible citizens should look into the people running for office. In the decision to vote you have to decide who is exaggerating more and who you believe. One should not vote for someone just because they hate that person or are told to hate the other candidate. As with the case of President Bush, a lot of people are voting for John Kerry just because they do not like the President. Why do they not like the President, because Terry McAuliff and Al Gore think he stole the last election and are bitter about the fact that Al Gore does not live in the White House. If they really looked at John Kerry they would see exactly how far out of the mainstream he is. He claims to support the U.S. Armed Forces, yet how many times did he vote to not fund them or cut back their numbers. He gets after the President for spreading the troops too thin, yet he and Bill Clinton decided to downsize the military, for which the military is still trying to recover. I did not hear him complain when President Clinton went into Bosnia or Somalia under much of the same cicumstances that caused President Bush to go into Irag. John Kerry is a man that says we need to have a global test before we put our troops in harms way, well before the First Gulf Warin 1991 we had a U.N. resolution and an international coalition (just like the current gulf war) and he still voted no to using force. He says he will hunt down terrorist and kill them, his record says otherwise. We all need to check the facts and decide who is best for our country. The old adage is true, you would not jump off a bridge just because someone told you to. Don’t vote for someone just because a celebrity tells you to, empower yourself and check up on the claims that both candidates are promising. Check their records during their public service that will give you a good indication of who they are and how they view things.
