LETTER: Sigma Nus not respectful
Editor:
I attended the football game against North Texas this weekend and made my way down to the bottom of the stairs right at the 50-yard line. To the left of me were the Sigma Nus. I had gone down there to photograph parts of the game for the Hard News Cafe.
To my disbelief, I heard the crudest comments come from several of the members of this fraternity. These degrading comments were not toward the other team, but instead were being yelled at members of the Spirit Squad for USU. I was appalled. Not only at the obscenities they were yelling, but that they would yell these at our people.
It wasn’t long that a member of the football team, No. 46 Jared Johnstun, came over to them and firmly stated, ‘Enough is enough.’ I can’t remember all that Jared said, but he informed them that they do not talk to women that way and that he didn’t want to hear them anymore. I mustered out a ‘good job #46,’ out of total respect for what he just did.
If you plan on acting like this at one of our sporting events, I suggest you find another seat … on the outside of the stadium – permanently. As far as Johnstun is concerned – thank you. Thanks for being a hero in my eyes, for standing up to the crude members of the Sigma Nu fraternity.
