BLOTTER: Police news from the Campus and Community

Nov. 8, 2002 USU Police and Logan City paramedics were dispatched to the construction area next to Edith Bowen for a medical assist. A construction worker fell off of a scaffolding. The worker was transported to Logan Regional Hospital for futher care.

Nov. 9, 2002 USU Police received a report of an individual attempting to reserve a parking space in the R-2 lot near Richards Hall. Police responded to the lot and removed a traffic cone that was placed in a parking space.

USU Police warned two individuals for skating in the Parking Terrace. The individuals were advised of the unversity’s policy of skating on campus.

USU Police received a report of some suspicious activity, possibly involving lewdness, in Romney Stadium. The investigation is continuing.

Nov. 10, 2002 USU Police assisted an individual who complained of feeling ill due to marijuana use. The individual contacted police, reported using the drugand complained of feeling ill from the side effects. The individual was transported to Logan Regional Hospital for evaluation.

USU Police received a noise complaint form a resident of Mountain View Tower. The caller reported several individuals knocking on random doors and making excessive noise on the seventh floor. When police arrived, the individuals had left the area. Nov. 11, 2002 Flooding was discovered in three offices in the USU Bookstore when it opened for business. The water had come from a boiler room next door. The flooding was stopped, and the water was cleaned up.

While servicing fire extinguishers, a USU Fire Marshal observed an opium pipe in an Aggie Village residence. An inspection of the pipe showed it did not have any residue. No further action was taken since it is not an illegal item.

A student reported that a passing pickup truck struck her arm with its rear-view mirror while she was crossing the street between the Communications Disorders Building and the Natural Resources Building. Police are investigating.

Nov. 13, 2002 An individual reported $10 in cash were stolen from her unattended backpack.

Nov. 14, 2002 A USU student living off campus reported a rape. USU Police assisted Logan City Police with the investigation.
