#USUhacks the Library

If you think the library is only for checking out books or hotties, you’re wrong. The library has an abundance of services I didn’t realize were offered until I began working there. Sadly, many of the library’s services go virtually unused because people don’t know they exist. Here is just a sampling of those services:

  1. You can check out some of the textbooks in the library. Why would you spend hundreds of dollars on heavy textbooks when you can just check them out?

  2. Yes, you can print by just using cash at the Circulation Desk.

  3. We have different Mac device chargers for different devices.

  4. We have iPads you can check out for up to five days. They are specifically to access our online books.

  5. Did I mention we have online books and articles?

  6. Interlibrary loans is a service where you can check out virtually any book from another library and it will be shipped to the Merrill-Cazier Library free of charge.

  7. If you take a book off of the shelf, don’t bother putting it back. Make sure you return it on the shelf specified as the “return” shelf. We like to keep track of all the books that have been used.

  8. We have dry erase markers to use in the study rooms.

  9. You can check out laptops and take them out of the library.

  10. We ship out FedEx packages.

  11. We sell maps and have special archived items in the basement.

  12. You can renew a book up to three times if you’re not finished with it.

  13. We rent out lockers in the library to students for the semester.

  14. There is a vending machine that has Scantrons in it.

  15. The information desk has SD card readers.

  16. All of the computers have the Adobe Creative Suite, which includes Photoshop and Adobe Audition.

  17. We print posters cheaper than the engineering building.

  18. We have the cleanest and most private bathrooms on campus.

  19. There are librarians that are paid to help you with your research projects. Utilize them. They are incredibly helpful.

  20. You can renew your books online at library.usu.edu.

  21. We check out headphones in the LMC with the Course Reserve books.

  22. There is a Vet Med room on the first floor that has every single book for the veterinary science program so you don’t have to buy any of them.
