Tired of the same old activities day after day? Why not spruce up your summer with a festive picnic! Picnics are an easy and fun summer activity that kids and adults of any age can enjoy.

When planning your next picnic, be sure to keep these tips in mind:

  1.       Make sure your food is kept at a safe temperature.

Even if you are just going to a park around the corner, food can spoil if left out or not kept at a safe temperature for consumption. Keep lunch meats, fruits and veggies refrigerated before leaving the house, and in a cooler before eating. Freeze beverages before leaving, and as you pack, be mindful that they double as ice packs to keep food and perishable items cold.

  1.       Keep your cooler handy

If you plan on making a habit of picnicking during the summer months, keep your cooler ready for summer fun,

good food, and lots of memories. Keep your pantry stocked with snack foods, healthy fruits and veggies, and the occasional cupcake of course, and you’ll be ready to picnic whenever you desire.

  1.       Keep your picnic location in mind

While planning for your fun adventures, remember to keep the setting in mind. This will help in making a decision about what to pack, the best type of food to pack, and activities to be prepared for.

  1.       Have a menu planned out.

Keeping a menu will allow you to stay organized in your fun adventures and outings. If you keep the same things on hand, you don’t have to fuss over buying new things every single time.

  1.       Be prepared for fun!

If you always have something planned, you will be able to make lots of memories, and enjoy time spent together with friends and loved ones. Picnics are the perfect way to get out, enjoy nature and appreciate the company of others.

If you’re planning a future outing, think about a picnic for you and some friends. You’ll be glad you did! Special thanks to the USU Extension for the best picnic tips!
