History of the Tournament: How the Utah State women have fared in Mountain West postseason play
The Utah State women’s basketball team is hoping to see its late-season success continue into the Mountain West Conference tournament. Winning seven of their final 10 games to finish 16-13 overall, the Aggies will attempt to translate a conference tournament run into a post-season tournament opportunity.
In search of its first ever conference championship, USU will enter this year’s tournament with the 6th seed, its highest since joining the conference in 2014. Like the men’s team, the Aggie women have never advanced past the semifinal round of the conference tournament during their three-year stint in the Mountain West.
USU is coming off of its first winning season since joining the Mountain West, and its best conference record, a 9-9 showing in 2016-17.
Last year in the tournament, the Aggies were victorious in the first round with a 59-35 victory over Nevada, before falling in the quarterfinals to Fresno State 55-47.
