Artist Feature: Kaile Akina
During Friday night of Logan City Limits there was a gallery walk through several shops downtown. Featured in the Sportsman, was artist Kaile Akina. Akina has been printmaking and illustrating her own art since 2012.
In regards to having the opportunity to display her work at Logan city Limits, Akina said, “It’s always super scary. Every artist wonders what people are going to think, but once you put it up and have it out there it is really cool. It is exciting.”
Akina described her style as cute and sarcastic at times. Her prints vary from cartoons to scenes of mountains. She utilizes oranges and pinks to create dreamy and abstract scenes.
“Most of the scenes have to do with Logan canyon, whether I’ve experienced them or my friends have told me about them. Backyard mountains are the best and that is where most of my work is inspired,” Akina said.
To see more of Akina’s work you can visit her etsy shop or follow her on instagram @kaileakina
“I love when people message me. I’ll always get back to you,” Akina said.
