Henson becomes third Aggie to leave USU men’s basketball team
Daron Henson became the third player from the Utah State men’s basketball team to announce they will be transferring from USU.
The 6-foot-7 forward joins guards DeAngelo Isby and Koby McEwen who will leave the school in the wake of former head coach Tim Duryea’s departure and the hiring of Craig Smith as the new coach of the Aggies.
Henson appeared in 33 of Utah State’s 34 games — starting two — and averaged 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game. He shot only 34.6 percent from the floor, but made 38.4 percent of his shots from 3-point range on 3.0 attempts per game.
The news of the transfer was broken by Henson himself in a post on Twitter.
“I would like to thank Utah State University and the former coaching staff for the opportunity they’ve given me over the past two years,” he said. “I’m thankful for my time at USU and appreciate everyone who supported me. With that being said, I have received my release and will be transferring.”
With Henson, McEwen and Isby leaving, as well as the departure of seniors Alex Dargenton and Julion Pearre, the Aggies are returning eight of the 13 players on the 2017-18 active roster.
