USU’s Scarver named First-Team All-American
On Thursday night, Utah State sophomore wide receiver Savon Scarver was named to the 2018 Walter Camp All-America First Team as a kick returner, as announced on the ESPN College Football Awards Show. The recognition comes following a standout season with the Aggies where Scarver led the nation in yards per kickoff return with a 34.1 average.
Scarver is the second Aggie in back-to-back years to be named a Walter Camp First-Team All-American after former Aggie cornerback Jalen Davis received the honor in 2017.
He also became just the fourth Aggie this century to earn an All-America team honor. The last players in school history to do so were RB Emmett White, who was named a Third-Team All American in 2000, and WR Kevin Curtis, who was a Third-Team All American in 2001.
Scarver’s breakout season was highlighted by a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against New Mexico State on Sept. 8th and a 99-yard return also for a score at Wyoming on Oct. 20th.
Scarver and the Aggies will next take the field on Dec. 15 at 12 p.m. in the New Mexico Bowl against North Texas.
