Roseburg set to play at Logan City Limits

This weekend, local bands and visual artists will showcase their unique talents at the Logan City Limits music and art festival.

Sydney Dahle, who has organized a lot of the music events for this year’s festival, says it is about “getting people to know not only about Aggie Radio, but also extending knowledge to the local music scene.”

One such local band is Roseburg, a new group that is quickly rising through the ranks nationally and internationally.

In fact, Sam Sheppard, the guitarist and pianist of Roseburg, reported that their fanbase has spread from Germany to Venezuela and all over the U.S. In addition, at least a dozen major rock playlists on Spotify have picked up their most recent record, “Moving Away!”, putting them on the same playlists as some of their idols.

Zach Knell, the lead singer, said the band’s success happened so suddenly that none of them really saw it coming. “It was like we weren’t even steering anymore,” he said. “Honestly, it fell in our lap.”

Despite their rapidly increasing fame, Knell said that they’ve “never been more excited for a show than to play in Logan.” Their small-town Oregon roots help them connect with people and build friendships, which is a big part of the experience that members of Roseburg hope to have while in Logan.

Soren Buchert, the bassist, said that he loves connecting with others through performing. “It gives all of us an opportunity to really communicate and connect with the crowd in a way that’s really hard to find with anything else,” he said.

Dahle said that being involved with Aggie Radio and Logan City Limits is her favorite part of being at Utah State because it allows people to get to know bands and fellow Aggies that they might not otherwise run into.

She added that support from locals is crucial because “every band that you know that’s popular started out with local people.”

Knell also said they need increasing support to continue to pursue their goals. “Our goal is to be one of the biggest bands in the world, period,” he said. “And that’s what we’re going to do. We don’t have a plan B.”

Dahle encourages everyone to attend Logan City Limits. “Even if you don’t know the music, come and learn, because I can guarantee you’re going to like at least one of the bands,” she said.

Knell personally invited everyone to come see them play. “If you happen to come across this article, come see us play,” he said. “And also, when you’re there, jump and scream and be crazy because it’ll be a lot of fun.”

Roseburg plays Friday, April 5 at WhySound at 7 p.m. They invite people to come talk to them after their performance and share their passion for music.
