Second annual Jewish Inclusion Seminar to feature speakers, films

Utah State University is hosting the 2nd annual Jewish Inclusion Seminar Series next Monday through Wednesday.

USU’s Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion hopes to advance inclusivity and visibility for the Jewish community in Cache Valley through the series.

The event will feature a variety of speakers from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. each day in the TSC and the David B. Haight Center.

Speakers Roni Fantanesh Malkai, Yael Gidanyan and Michael Greenfield will present Monday on key Jewish-Ethiopian, Jewish-Iranian and Jewish-American events and voices within the community.

On Tuesday, Judith Amsel will present on Jewish mothers and daughters, and Eric Mendelsohn will discuss Jewish culture in the western United States at the David B. Haight Center.

The event will close out Wednesday with speakers Iris Zaki, Sami Shalom Chetrit, Rotem Elkayam and Mara Rabin talking about the Jewish-Israeli and Jewish-Moroccan experiences, the Jewish Mellah in Marrakech and the story of trauma resiliency and human rights in Utah.

The event welcomes attendees both in person and on Zoom. Multiple student and speaker film projects will be shown, such as “Remembering Marrakesh” from Sapir College, and “People Asleep and the Water as Well” by Rotem Elkayam.
