Rapper NBA YoungBoy booked into Cache County Jail

On Tuesday, April 16, rapper NBA YoungBoy, was booked into the Cache County Jail. He was arrested for his alleged involvement in a “large scale prescription fraud ring” and faces 63 charges.  

Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, 24, known professionally as YoungBoy Never Broke Again or NBA YoungBoy, is the 439th ranked artist on Spotify.  

Gaulden has been charged with one count of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, one count of pattern of unlawful activity, 20 counts of identity fraud, 20 counts of forgery, 20 counts of procuring/attempting to procure drug/prescription and one count of possession of controlled substance.  

All of the charges are felonies, except for possession of controlled substance, which is a Class-B misdemeanor. 

Gaulden’s booking information from the Cache County Jail

The rapper from Louisiana has been on house arrest since October 2021 awaiting trial for a federal firearms charge.   

According to court records, Gaulden has been a target of investigation by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office after being identified as a suspect in a large-scale prescription fraud ring.  

“The prescription fraud drug ring is known to have attempted or has acquired various prescription medications, specifically Promethazine with Codeine,” the records read. 

The arrest came after a search was conducted of Gaulden’s residence in Huntsville on April 16. The affidavit of the search warrant was prepared and submitted on April 12.  

Multiple pharmacies across Utah, including a few in Cache County, reported receiving fraudulent prescriptions which were connected to Gaulden and his associates.  

Since the news of Gaulden’s arrest broke, students and others within the USU community have reacted on social media. The account @usubarstool posted a photo of the Cache County Jail booking records, which garnered a variety of comments speculating on Gaulden’s arrest.  

Instagram user @quirky801 said “youngboy do you want to go to PoBev with us on Saturday!?” 

Another comment from @andcann read “You mean to tell me this mans is in the Cache County jail and we haven’t scheduled a show with him at the TSC?” 

Fans of Gaulden have taken to social media using the hashtag #freeYB.
