Gas smells reported in Old Main
On Monday Jan. 13, students braved the cold on their way to start a new week of classes only to find a gas leak halting their classes in Old Main.
“There was a report of a smell of gas. It has not been determined what the smell is yet. There is no gas in Old Main,” wrote Ben Berrett associate vice president of USU facilities in a text to The Utah Statesman.
A Logan city fire truck was spotted outside the building around 10:30 a.m, a popular start time for classes on the Logan campus.
The smell was later determined to be a dead mouse in the basement.
“We’ll be checking for other signs of rodents. It’s not been a problem in that building,” Berrett wrote.
