Three extensions to save you money
If you’re anything like me, you’re a college student who is poor, broke and out of money. Out of necessity I have learned how to stretch a dollar and if you use these three extensions you’ll be able to as well. First off, if you’re not familiar with what an extension is, it’s a program with extra features added into your browser — basically a web browser app. Thousands are available online, and most are free. If you use these three together, you’ll be able to save lots of money and get the most bargain for your buck.
Amazon Wish List: Have you ever seen something cool on the internet and planned on buying it later? Now you can keep track of all of these products with the wish list extension. Once it’s installed, you simply click the button to add it to your wish list. The extension allows you to specify color, size, quantity and other details for the items you select. These wish lists are like gift registries for life; they’re easy to share, organize and update. Follow your friends and family’s wish lists to get them gifts they you know they’ll love.
Camel: Once you’ve made your wish list you can load it into the Camel extension. Have you ever bought an item and found out the price dropped significantly the next week? Camel solves this problem. This application follows all the items on your wish list and tells you when the price is lowest. It uses data to track the pattern in prices and will alert you when the price has dropped to a certain point. I myself set it to alert me when items are 75 percent of the regular price, but you can customize it to whatever you want. Additionally, it graphs out the price history so you can know if you’re getting a good deal, or getting ripped off.
Honey: Now that you know what you want to buy, and that it’s at an all-time low price, we will use one more price saving technique. Honey is an extension that searches the internet for coupon codes and applies them to your purchases. This extension is easy to use and can save you up to 75 percent off your purchase. I myself have had free shipping on countless items just by using this extension.
All these extensions are free in the extension store through Google. Make sure to check out other extensions there. Their only downside is they can sometimes slow down your web browser. If this happens, you can either turn them off by going to the extension manager in Chrome, or uninstall them in the same area.
