Peter Kung, biologist and president of the non-profit organization EarthMatters.org, will be the featured speaker. The title of his presentation is “A Different Approach to Eco-tourism,” and will focus on structuring eco-tourism in ways that tourists and scientists can give something back to host countries instead of benefiting middlemen who live elsewhere. He will highlight work in remote rainforest areas of Venezuela and Peru where EM.org has involved locals and indigenous people in eco-tourism efforts such as studying Harpy eagles.
