Aggie Family Day provides fun time for kids of all ages

Scott Jardine

Utah State University’s annual Aggie Family Day was held on the Quad on Saturday afternoon and featured many exhibits, activities, games and even the USU Wright Flyer.

Aggie Family Day is intended to provide entertainment for people of all ages. In addition to the Wright Flyer, there was a face painting booth run by the College of Education and a hunter’s safety exhibit sponsored by the College of Natural Resources. An imitation rock-climbing wall and rides on horse-drawn carriages were also offered.

The Utah State Parents’ Association sponsored a cookout, offering a hamburger, chips, and drink for $1. Hundreds of people took advantage of the reasonably priced meal.

Aggie Family Day was held in coordination with the Utah State football game Saturday night.

“The event is the perfect family activity before an Aggie football game,” said organizer Scott Olson.

Former USU student Jamie Clark and her husband said they enjoy coming to Aggie Family Day.

“It’s great fun to come up here with kids,” Clark said.

President Kermit L. Hall attended Aggie Family Day and could be seen walking from booth to booth, asking everyone in sight if they were enjoying themselves.

Hall said he enjoyed the activities associated with family day because people can buy anything from snow cones to license plate holders.

“I think it’s terrific, a great way to show off multi-faceted life at USU,” Hall said.

When asked if he would be attending the USU football game Saturday night, Hall responded with a smile, “Oh yes, I’ll be there.”
