Aggie hockey falls at home to BYU
This week has been tough for Aggie athletics with a few heart wrenching games. First, the men’s basketball loss to Fresno St. on Wednesday and then the hockey team fell to BYU at home Friday night.
The George Eccles Ice Center saw a full set of stands thirty minutes before the puck dropped. The crowd grew to the point of absolute capacity, to where they had to stop letting people in as the game began.
The first two periods consisted of 40 minutes of close calls and lots of penalties. The third began 0-0.
Six minutes into the third period BYU’s Nixon Barber scored and gave the Cougars the lead only to have it tied by USU’s Drew Decker three minutes later.
Sadly, the feeling of relief that entered the stands was quickly pulled away when Christian Coslett scored and regained the Cougar lead that continued for the last nine minutes.
The next game scheduled game on Jan. 24th against Wyoming however was cancelled. The Aggies will return home Jan. 25th against the University of Colorado. Bring a teddy bear or other stuffed animal to donate.
